I£®General Information about Jiangsu & Nanjing

 

Jiangsu province, located in Yangtze River Delta in China¡¯s east coastal area where with the greatest development potential to be tapped, neighboring shanghai, widely opening up to the outside world, is one the dynamic and fastest economically developing provinces in China. Nanjing, as the central city of the Yangtze River Delta, has been internationally recognized as one the most prosperous cities of the 21st century in the Asia Pacific Rim. The successful bidding of 2014 Youth Olympic Games has made Nanjing a world-wide focus.

Nanjing is internationally recognized as one the most prosperous cities of the 21st century in the Asia Pacific Rim. According to the latest statistics issued by the State Statistic Bureau, Nanjing ranks the 7th in the competitiveness among the cities in Chinese mainland. Forbes placed Nanjing the 3rd among the best commercial cities in Chinese mainland in 2007. Nanjing, as the most developed city in service industry in Jiangsu province, is also one of the central cities in business, trade, finance, tourism and logistics in the Yangtze River Delta. In 2009, its GDP reached 417 billion RMB.  Electronic, automobile, chemical and steel industries contribute 69% of the city¡¯s total industrial production value. New and high-tech industries, such as green energy, energy efficiency, environment protection, new materials, bio-medicine and pharmaceuticals, integrated circuit design, have resulted in an accumulative effect.

II£®Objectives

Focusing on key technologies related to low-carbon economy in 4 major sectors, i.e., green energy and environment protection, bio-medicine and pharmaceuticals, integrated circuit design and new materials, scholars and experts along with their technology information will be invited to the event to exchange experiences and lessons learned in the development of low-carbon cities, explore the paradigm of low-carbon economic development, conduct low-carbon related technology transfer, explore the possibility of project cooperation and establishment of industrial innovative international cooperation alliance, promote the enterprises¡¯ technical innovation and international competitiveness, and set up an international platform for Nanjing¡¯s construction of low-carbon city, its realization of scientific and technical innovation, industrial transformations and a sustainable development.

1.       Atmosphere Creation

In the pleasant atmosphere created by this great event, with the concept of construction of a low-carbon city and with the advanced technologies, outstanding innovative talents, and first class research institutes flowing into Nanjing, make good publicity of Nanjing and extend its international influence.

2.       Alliance Formation

Addressing the priorities, characteristics and difficulties of Nanjing industrial development, integrate and exploit the international scientific and technical resources, encourage the establishment of industrial innovative international cooperation alliance among businesses at home and abroad, form a closer strategic international academia and industrial partnership and lift the cooperation levels and standard.

3.       Projection Cooperation

Set up a platform for enterprises, universities and research institutes both at home and abroad to conduct technology transfer and explore project cooperation, facilitate more technologies commercialized and industrialized in Nanjing, and facilitate Nanjing¡¯s developing into a low-carbon city, its realization of technical innovation, industrial transformations and a  sustainable development.
